There are two ways for educators to add students to an Elephango student group:


  • by clicking the button "Add Students"
  • by clicking the student icon on an existing group


Both ways will require the educator to either add existing students (students that have already been invited to Elephango and are added to one of your groups) or invite new students (students that you have not yet invited and do not belong to any of your Elephango groups).


To add a student using the "Add Students" button, click this button and follow the instructions in the pop-up window.



In the pop-up window, select the group to which you would like to add students. You must create a group before you can add any students. From here, the educator can add existing students, or invite new students. Upon clicking "Add Existing Students", the educator will be prompted in the pop-up window to type the name of the student and add that student to the group.



To add a new student, click "Invite New Students". The educator will be prompted to enter the first and last name of the student, as well as the email address. To finish, click "Continue". This action will send an invitation email to the student with a link to join your Elephango group. This email does not contain the group code, so it is important that educators share this group code in another way.



To add students to a specific group using the student icon, click the student icon for the desired group.



The specific group will show in a pop-up window. From here, educators can either view the list of students they have already invited, or they can add students to this group by clicking "Add Students".



Upon clicking "Add Students", the educator will be prompted to choose between adding existing students and inviting new students.



To add a new student, select the desired group from the drop-down menu and click "Invite New Students". The educator will be prompted to enter the first and last name of the student, as well as the email address. To finish, click "Continue". The student(s) will receive an email prompting them to sign up on the Elephango website. This email does not contain the group code, so it is important that educators share this group code in another way.



Each student will receive an email with a custom link to create their account using the name and email you sent. The students will create their own username and password when creating the accounts. Once the account is created, the student will be added to the invited group and will see this group by clicking on the Favorites tab on any Elephango view.


Note: If a student already has an account with Elephango (even if it is not for your class), when they click on the invite link from the email they will be prompted to log in with their existing username and password. After logging in, they will see the new group in their favorites tab.
